Of course, there are also the days when all I can say is, "Dude, that sucks!”, as I toss the proverbial painting into the recycle bin of my mind.
Obviously, I still have a lot of practicing to do before I master the art of painting. But that’s the point, right? To learn from your mistakes? But then again, are they really mistakes?
As I look back through my gallery, I find that certain paintings stand out. For instance, some of the pieces that have now become the most valuable are the ones I almost threw away. I also realize that some of the focal points which make these paintings so unique, were actually accidental brush strokes at the time the paintings were composed. Hmm, interesting... Guess I don’t have to be Van Gogh or Picasso to paint a priceless work of art…I just have to be me. That’s pretty cool!
One of the most amazing things I notice while reviewing my gallery is the fact that every day I’ve been given a fresh new canvas and an endless supply of paint. Wow! What an awesome deal! If I don’t like the finished product, I can start all over again tomorrow!
Now, if you’ve started to review your own gallery while reading this you may be thinking, “Gee, my paintings range from Da Vinci to graffiti!”, and that’s ok. See, that’s what makes your gallery so unique. Look a little closer now. Do you see a long forgotten painting sitting quietly in a dark, dusty corner of your gallery? The one that you’d forgotten about…the one that maybe you’d tossed aside because you didn’t think it had meaning? Yep, that one! Maybe it’s time to dust it off and put it on display. Who knows, it just might end up being your life’s Masterpiece!
