Yes, I said happy.
You see, I'm one of those crazy people who actually love Mondays. Right now, I'm smiling and singing in my head. (I also hear voices in my head, but that's a totally different subject.)
Now, before you start sending hate vibes my way, hear me out -- I haven't always loved Mondays. In the past, I've fought the infamous "Monday Blues," like many others. Then I realized something:
Monday Blues are stupid.
Oh, and don't even get me started on Wednesday! Hump Day, REALLY???
I'm not even embarrassed to admit that it took me a while before I realized that Hump Day wasn't a sexual innuendo. I was actually disappointed when I realized what it really meant. (Whatever. Don't judge me.)
To me, the whole concept of Hump Day is like saying:
Hey, I'm really happy that I have yet again, parted with another meaningless Monday and Tuesday of my life, that I will never get back, just so I can be closer to the weekend. Hooray!
(Hump Day lovers are gonna hate me for that one. Oops.)
I mean, why do we count down the beginning of our week, as if the weekend were the only days that matter?
Pshh! EVERY day is beautiful. EVERY day will be just as phenomenal as you choose to make it; including Monday.
My point is, the next time you feel the Monday Blues creeping in, think about the following five reasons to love Monday. It will change your whole perspective, and you may realize that Monday is one of your favorite days, after all!
Reason #1. You Are Alive
You have an opportunity that others no longer have: today.
A quote by one of my favorite people (Robin Williams), in one of my favorite movies (Dead Poets Society), says, "Make your lives extraordinary."
Monday is as good as any other day to do so.
It's true -- Monday sets the tone, so make it a shining example for the rest of the week to live up to.
Reason #3. It's a Challenge
We all love a good challenge, right? So go be a conquerer! See just how much you can accomplish in a day. Take Monday and make it yours. You will amaze yourself.
Reason #4. It's the Perfect Day to Brighten
Since Monday is a gloomy day for some, why not brighten it up a little?
• Do a random act of kindness for a stranger.
• Encourage someone; let them know how much you love and believe in them.
• See how many people you can smile at and say something nice to.
It's fun. Try it.
Not only is Monday the beginning of a brand new week, it's the beginning of the rest of your life! You can start over. You can try again. You can make this week better than last week. So get out there and make it happen!
Reason #6. It's Full of Possibilities
It's possible to: eat better, exercise, smile, be happy, be kind, be understanding, be productive, be thankful, help someone, have fun, laugh, pray, give a hug, give a high-five, etc., etc., etc...
Now, go take Monday's possibilities and turn them into Monday's realities! You can DOOOOOO it!
