All seasons hold their own unique beauty, but fall has always been my favorite. While there are a lot of special things that are synonymous with this time of year, the following 5 are at the top of my list!
You know what I'm talking about; that cool, clean, fresh, crisp air. Ahhhh..... Since I was a little girl, one of my all-time favorite feelings is the one I get when I walk outside on a cool fall morning, and breathe in that crispness. Nothing compares to it, really. It's like breathing in home.
2. The Time Changes Back
Yes, the time changes back to where it should have never left: Standard Time. Don't get me wrong, I understand the concept behind Daylight Saving Time, but I absolutely, positively, do not like it. At all. Seriously, I detest that feeling of losing an hour, and it throws my whole life off kilter until I get it back.
However, when that long-awaited Sunday morning rolls around and I finally do get my hour back, the rejoicing begins! Hal-le-lu-jah!
3. College Football
I'm not fanatical, but I do love watching college football! I also enjoy all that goes along with it; the camaraderie between mutual fans, the banter between opposing fans, and who doesn't like football food? (Luckily, there's number 4.)
4. It's a Great Time For Outdoor Exercise
I'm normally not one of those people who just loves working out; I generally love the feeling of being finished with my workout. However, during the fall months, I find myself excited about getting outside and running, hiking, biking, whatever. This is largely due to the fantastical weather. (Refer to number 1.)
5. One-Pot Meals
Soup, chili, gumbo, chowder, stew - you name it. With the weather cooling, fall is the perfect time for one-pot meals. Some favorites in my house include: chili, vegetable soup, and ham & beans. All of these pack a good nutritional punch and tend to be fairly simple and time-saving. Thus, leaving you with more time to get outside and breathe in that crisp air!
